When you think of Vancouver Fashion Week, you instantly think of Ken Kozuki – and for good reason.
This 16 year veteran of the Hair Stylist community has been hard at work making A-list celebrities look their best on the red carpet, and has now come home to show us all exactly why he and his team are so well respected.
Ken has been chosen as Head Stylist and Educator with the Redken Canada team for this year’s Vancouver Fashion Week. This incredible honour couldn’t have been bestowed on a more deserving and experienced stylist, as Ken has been working events like these for a long time.
Kozuki started his career at Interior Academy in Kamloops, BC, where he attended school and became a Redken stylist. While developing his craft, he developed a deep passion for education. Styling is important, but ensuring that the next batch of stylists are well versed in the art of hair creates a sea of talented stylists as opposed to a handful of gurus and various padawans.
Ken loves to seize any opportunity to grow his field of expertise through education. Over his illustrious career, he has expanded his schooling to include one-on-one training with Redken artists; Chris Baran, Jorge Joao, Cindy Duplantis, Giovanni Giuntoli, and Sam Villa. Kozuki is also an international educator, collaborating with Tearsheet and Redken for symposiums and editorial shoots throughout Canada and the United States.
Where He Is Today
For over a decade, Ken Kozuki has been cementing himself into his career as Partner and Creative Director at Ra Hair Studio & Spa in Kamloops. His undying love for the work, his attention to detail, and his desire to educate have all helped him become an Editorial Session Stylist and Tearsheet Artist for several publications both online and in print ads.
If you’ve ever watched a red carpet, you’ve likely seen Ken Kozuki’s art in action. He has styled for multiple celebrities, such as Joan Jett, Kat Graham, Sasha Cohen, Belle Thorne, Taryn Manning, Stacey McKenzie, Jill Hennessy and Amber Le Bon.
Bigger Things to Come
After working several seasons backstage at New York Fashion Week and three seasons at Toronto Fashion Week, Ken Kozuki has no intention of stopping. He’s thrilled and honoured to be coming home to not only oversee the styling for Vancouver Fashion Week, but to educate the stylists of tomorrow to help improve their skills so that one day they might too be in his shoes.
Welcome Home, Ken Kozuki!
